Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) In Agriculture

Agriculture plays a key role in the economic sector. The automation of this industry is a widely discussed matter and the recent introduction of artificial intelligence to aid this process was shown to boost efficiency in many studies conducted. Archeron Group is a thought leader in the space of artificial intelligence and quantum technologies and we are currently striving to bring about a difference in the farming sector by providing farmers with timely information, technology and the right kind of inputs to achieve better yields.

A typical farming cycle would involve preparing the land, sowing seeds, fertilizing the soil, watering the plants, protecting the plants against weeds and pests, harvesting, storage and finally selling the harvest. The challenges faced during traditional methods of farming are associated with monitoring various conditions such as soil alkalinity, weather forecast, timely watering of plants, pest control, supply chain management, disease detection management, etc. Archeron group has developed a very comprehensive agriculture analysis platform using artificial intelligence, which provides an end to end solution as shown below.

Agricultural decisions are largely based on secondary data or site visit by a third party. The USP of the platform developed by Archeron Group uses a remote sensing-based platform to map the yield and productivity of the field.  The process involves developing proprietary algorithms to analyze the data obtained from various satellites such as Landsat (optical), Sentinel-1 (optical), Sentinel-2 (SAR), Hyperion (hyperspectral) and MODIS (optical). We have been able to achieve >90% accuracy using our prediction methods.

Currently, our module covers, but is not limited to the following:

  • Farm Monitoring: It involves monitoring the health of the vegetation, land space used for plantation purpose and the water stress level in different areas of crop covered land.
  • Disease Detection: It can be carried out manually or by remote sensing. In the manual method, a picture of the diseased part of the plant is uploaded to the software and it detects the exact malady and recommends the most suitable remedy. Remote sensing banks on the spectral properties of the vegetation, as it is a direct indication of its biophysical and biochemical state.
  • Plant Growth Tracking: It determines the different stages of plants by measuring temperature, height, leaf area index, and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) of plant. The index value changes at different stages of the plan growth.
  • Crop Damage: The images for before and after peril are calculated to analyze the % change in the pixel value indicating the area representing damage

It also includes agricultural insurance automation, agriculture loan automation, credit rating automation, irrigation requirement automation, crop classification and identification, soil analysis, fertilizer and pesticide requirement analysis.

The company is constantly working to overcome the challenges in the market and implement A.I. driven high quality functional technology.
